Dillard University Professional Services Building
New Orleans, LA
Laboratories use a significant amount of energy. Most labs require 100% outside supply air. The large volume of exhausted air from fume hoods must be replaced with conditioned air. This is costly as there is much wasted energy removed through this exhaust air. Building a “Green” lab is not easy, but that is what is being done at Dillard University in New Orleans.
Air-Side Equipment and Greenheck worked with the engineer to provide an innovative solution to help recover some of this wasted energy. A Greenheck #Vektor ERS system was specified and provided. This system utilized the #Vektor lab exhaust fan to provide a high diluted plume of the exhausted air. Greenheck's Vektor™ ERS utilizes run-around coils to safely transfer energy between the laboratory exhaust and supply airstreams to reduce the laboratory's consumption. This sensible only heat transfer system allows the supply and exhaust duct system to be separated and safely prevents the possibility of cross contamination. The Greenheck #MSX make up air unit was used for the makeup air unit
Other products supplied were (2)Greenheck #ERV energy recovery ventilators to provide additional tempered outside air to the building. And, (2) 70,000 cfm Greenheck Tube Axial exhaust fans were used in the smoke exhaust systems.
With the Greenheck products, Dillard will save on energy consumption for years to come!
